AI SDR (AI Sales Development Representative)

An AI SDR is an AI agent that performs the work of a sales development representative — responding to inbound leads, qualifying them against an ideal customer profile, and booking qualified meetings onto account-executive calendars.

AI SDRs typically operate across chat, email, and voice. They respond to inbound leads within seconds, ask qualifying questions based on the company's ICP, answer common pre-sales questions, and — if the lead qualifies — book a meeting directly onto the correct AE's calendar.

Deployed well, AI SDRs do not replace human SDRs; they reposition them. Human SDRs handle discovery calls on pre-qualified pipeline rather than spending the majority of their time on first-touch qualification. Per-rep pipeline typically grows 2–4× as a result.

Enterprise-grade AI SDRs are tied to the CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive), write every interaction back to the lead record for attribution, and operate under an explicit qualification policy that compliance and RevOps can audit.
